Situated in South Dakota is the well known, Mount Rushmore National Memorial. A 60 foot sculpture by Gutzon Borglum, it features the heads of four former United States presidents – George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
It has many other attractions including the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, held annually, which attracts many visitors. The Lincoln Borglum museum, located in the memorial has two theatres that show a short film about Mount Rushmore.
The Presidential Trail which starts at Grandview Terrace and goes through the magnificient Ponderosa pine forests to the Sculptor’s Studio. Here you can hear all about the construction of Mount Rushmore and the tools that were used to create it.
Mount Rushmore is an interesting place, which never fails to fascinate many visitors, it is one of America’s many national treasures.
