23 jan 2010 - Do animals really know how you feel?
It's a known fact that dogs and other animals can sense it when you are nervous or angry. They react in their own way by either cowering or attacking you.

People trigger this response with their body language and/or tone of voice when approaching or approached by any animal of any sort.

However does it go deeper than this? There are cases where dogs have apparently known or rather 'sniffed out' cancer growths in their owners bodies.

I have brought up this subject up because of my cat Jess. She is a 4 year old black, domestic.

When Jess arrived in my home she was already 4 months old, she was terrified of people and didn't take kindly to my dog and when i got another cat a year later she would have nothing to do with her -though they have their moments chasing each other throught the house!

Anyway back on the topic, Jess has never taken to people she is seldom affectionate, not a lap cat at all, however like everyone else I myself go through periods of stress, depression etc and during these times when I feel really low in mood, Jess will not leave me alone!
She will constantly brush herself against my legs and will not give in untill i stroke her. My other animals do not do this with me, if fact when i am in a bad mood my dog will avoid me! ha ha.

It's been known too that people have actually improved in mind, spirit and even health by stroking their pets.

Just a paws for thought (excuse the pun)so does this prove that animals have the same thoughts and feelings as us and do they understand us more than they let on?

Thanks for reading
Sue
