14 apr 2009 - UTV launches mobile Indian music video channel
The UTV music video channel will be available to Idea Cellular, BSNL, MTNL and Vodafone subscribers in India. Initially there will be more than 5,000 music videos, in Hindi, English, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bhojpuri and Marathi. Videos in Malayalam, Bengali and Gujarati will also be added at a later date.
User must send an SMS to the mobile operator for a WAP link to access a downloadable application, which will be available as an icon on the handset's menu.
T N Prabhu, chief executive officer, new media ventures, UTV, says, "We are extremely pleased to launch music video channel on UTVatPlay which is India's first full music video channel giving the subscriber an absolute TV viewing experience on the mobile handset. We are sure that the youth will accept with utmost zeal and enthusiasm."
