26 apr 2009 - India heading towards mobile internet revolution
India has a huge rural population with relatively low PC and Internet usage. India was only partly affected by the internet revolution, but is poised to be in the forefront of the next wave of mobile internet.

In March 2009, The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India estimated the total number of wireless subscribers in India at 391.76 million, with a large proportion of these users having data enabled handsets.

According tp S. Prashant, Director, Akmin Technologies, a lot of the new Indian mobile internet web sites are likely to be driven by user generated content. "We are moving towards enabling people from even the remotest parts of the country to access the Internet. Soon we will be providing the tool free of cost in local languages. This will create an explosion in the amount of content available on the mobile web."
