17 jul 2009 - Chinese mobile internet use to eclipse USA
Internet users in China already make up 25% of the world population, with 338 million users currently online, a 15% increase over the previous year. 46% of the total internet users access the internet via their mobile cell phones or PDAs, over 150 million people.

Although the USA still has the highest number of mobile internet users, the comparative low market penetration means much of the population in China is still an untapped resource, but with the potential to become the dominant user base in mobile internet.

The proliferation of mobile internet use is set to receive an additional boost in January 2010 when new 3G licences are issued. 3G will bring high speed mobile access allowing such features as video streaming and downloads.

Currently the most popular activities for online mobile users are gaming, instant messaging, searches and forums.
